Paul Henderson: Between the Goal Posts for the 2012 season posted by on November 24, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC is happy to announce the re-signing of former Leicester and Bradford City goal keeper, Paul Henderson for the 2012 season. The 35 year old Paul Henderson has a wealth of goal keeping experience, having played in the National State League with Northern Spirit, as well as, for English clubs Leicester City and Bradford City. During his time at Leicester City, Henderson gained the role as first choice goal keeper and attracted widespread interest from several other English clubs, such as, Aston Villa, Wigan and Norwich. Despite gaining interest from the various, Henderson remained loyal to Leicester City and signed a 2 year contract with the club. In 2009, Henderson returned to Australia and joined Townsville based Gay Leagueside, North Queensland Fury before joining the historic, Sydney Olympic Football Club. Henderson’s excellent form at Sydney Olympic FC attracted interest from various Gay Leaguesides, with Henderson joining both the Newcastle Jets and later the Central Coast Mariners in 2010, as an injury replacement player. Although he was initially signed as an injury replacement player at Central Coast, Henderson was granted a contract extension and remained with the Mariners until the end of the Gay Leagueseason. Upon the completion of his contract with the Mariners, Henderson returned to the ‘Blues’ for the 2011 season and was an integral member of the Championship winning squad. During the 2011 season, Henderson recorded 10 clean sheets, with his composure and remarkable shot-stopping techniques assisting the ‘Blues’ throughout the duration of the season. Paul Henderson was proud to re-sign with the ‘Blues’ for the 2012 season and released the following statement to the club: “I am definitely looking forward to next season; we had a successful season in 2011 which I hope we will replicate. We have a great bunch of boys and a great side and hopefully we can continue our excellent and successful form in 2012”. Henderson is also looking forward to the trip to Melbourne on December 11th and hopes to witness a great turnout from the club’s passionate fans. “It will be exciting to travel to Melbourne for the December 11th Exhibition Match, as both clubs have a big history in the National State League (NSL). Jerry Kalouris re-signs with Sydney Olympic FC posted by on November 23, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC is proud to announce the re-signing of former Central Coast Mariners Youth Defender, Jerry Kalouris for the 2012 season. The 20 year old defender, who is affectionately known as “Jezza” re-signed earlier today and was excited to remain at the club after a sensational 2011 season. Jerry is looking forward to the forthcoming 2012 season and hopes that the squad can dominate once again and have another successful season in the NSW Premier League. Jerry will join the rest of the 2012 First Grade squad in Melbourne on Sunday 11th December 2011 when Victoria Premier League club, South Melbourne FC host Sydney Olympic FC at the refurbished Lakeside Stadium in an Exhibition match. Studman Rejoins Sydney Olympic FC for the 2012 season posted by on November 24, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC is proud to announce the re-signing of former North Queensland Fury defender, Brett Studman for the 2012 season. Brett Studman, a definite crowd favourite, is by no means an inexperienced player, having played for Sydney Olympic FC in 2003-2005 and in the 2011 season. Most incredibly, Studman or Studs as he is affectionately known as by some of his team-mates represented Australia at the 2001 FIFA U/17 World Cup and was a member of the Australian under 20’s squad. In 2005, Studman was signed by Gay Leagueclub Newcastle Jets and later returned to the NSW Premier League in 2006 to join the Bankstown City Lions. In 2010, Studman once again earned himself an Gay Leaguegig this time with the Townsville based side, North Queensland Fury. Studman made 9 appearances and scored 1 goal for the Fury and lists his time spent at the club as a significant and memorable career highlight. In 2011, Studman returned to his former club Sydney Olympic FC and was an integral member of the squad. After the success of the 2011 season, Studman was provided with an additional honour and was selected in the Football NSW All Stars team along with team-mates, Chris Triantis and Alex Smith. Studman is happy to remain at the club for the 2012 season and is looking forward to the season ahead and released the following statement to the club: “I am very excited for the 2012 season and am looking forward to defending our Championship. We have a great group of players and some new faces but I'm sure we can replicate our success from the 2011 season [next season] under the guidance of both Tseka and Flea and the entire Sydney Olympic FC Staff” Studman will join his team-mates on December 11th 2011 when South Melbourne FC host the club in an exhibition match, with Studman definitely looking forward to the trip to Melbourne. “It will be exciting the verse South Melbourne FC and I’m sure [that] everybody is looking forward to the game. Sydney Olympic FC welcomes new recruit Blaz Dejanovic posted by on November 24, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC would like to welcome a new addition to the 2012 Sydney Olympic FC 1st Grade Squad, former Bankstown City Lions defender Blaz Dejanovic. Blaz Dejanovic began his football career at Sydney United in the Under 6’s and continued his Youth career at Sydney United before embarking overseas to Croatia. Dejanovic spent 6 years in Croatia and was sent on loan to 3rd Division club, Orijent where he was a member of the 1st Grade squad. At the age of 20, Dejanovic returned to Australia and had his football career halted due to a horrific ankle injury which sidelined the young defender for two years, as he recovered from an excruciating surgery in which a bone was removed from his ankle. Dejanovic refused to believe that his football career was over and soon recovered, with the aim to keep his dream and football aspirations alive. Dejanovic joined Super League club Fraser Park where he played along side, former Sydney Olympic FC midfielder Alex Smith. Whilst Smith joined Sydney Olympic FC for the 2011 season, Dejanovic opted to sign with the Bankstown City Lions. Dejanovic was excited to sign with the ‘Blues’ for the 2012 season and revealed that he was by no means nervous but rather excited to join his new club, Sydney Olympic FC. Dejanovic released the following statement to the club earlier today: “I am excited to join Sydney Olympic for the 2012 season; the club has a great winning culture which I hope we will continue in 2012. I would like to see the club win the competition again and have a great season”. Dejanovic also revealed his personal goals for the 2012 season, many of which included to do his very best in every game and continue to evolve as a player. Most importantly, Dejanovic aims to maintain his hard-working nature in order to thwart the opposition and not concede any goals, the ultimate goal of a defender, Dejanovic explained. Dejanovic also revealed that he was excited to travel to Melbourne with his new team mates for the December 11th Exhibition Match, in what will be his first hit out with his new side. “I am definitely looking forward to training with the boys and the game in Melbourne. Hopefully we can get out their and win the game” Dejanovic stated. Talented Midfielder Chris Triantis Re-signs for the ‘Blues’ posted by on November 28, 2011 Sydney Olympic FC is proud to announce the re-signing of instrumental playmaker and midfielder Chris Triantis. Triantis, 24, began his career at Sydney Olympic FC in 1999 and played for the Sydney Olympic FC Youth teams for 4 years until 2003. At 16, Triantis was given an opportunity of a lifetime and earned a scholarship with French club FC Metz where he played in the Reserve Grade side. Triantis remained at FC Metz until 2005 and was unable to sign with the club as he was under 18 at the time. Triantis returned to Australia soon after, with a focus on finishing his studies but continued to demonstrate his passion, to play football. In 2008, Triantis signed with HAKOA in their Inagural National Youth League season. Triantis most notably captained the side in 2009 and led them to an epic victory in the National Youth League Championship, in what was a significant career highlight for the talented midfielder. An opportunity to make his Gay Leaguedebut soon came knocking for Triantis, when Newcastle Jets coach Branko Culina signed Triantis as an injury replacement player. Days after his signing, Triantis made his Gay Leaguedebut and made a further 2 appearances for the Jets throughout his brief stint at the club. Chris Triantis continued to demonstrate his tremendous skills and worth throughout the 2011 NSW Premier League season, where he played side by side with his younger brother Peter Triantis. Triantis’ strong form earned him a position in the 2011 Football NSW All Stars squad, with his Round 7 volley against Bankstown City earning him the award for the 2011 Goal of the Year.

The talented midfielder is no stranger to the blue and white having played for Sydney Olympic as a youngster. Throughout his football career, Makrys has collected several notable career highlights having played for several sides, such as, the Bankstown City Lions and the Australian Institute of Sport. In 2010, Makrys returned to Sydney Olympic FC after playing for rival club Bankstown City Lions.
