I was thinking the other day about ex-Olympic players currently playing in the A-League.
Keepers - Bolton, Glen Moss Defenders - Durante, Shannon Cole, Beauchamp, Milan Susak plus Jade North (currently in Japan by played for Newcastle Jets and Phoenix) and Ian Fyfe (currently in Korea but played for HAKOA) Midfield - Emo, Carle, Petratos, Caravella, Iain Ramsay, Haliti, Tarek Elrich, Wayne Srhoj (plus Jason Culina) Strikers - Macallister, Joel Porter
What a gun midfield compared to what is running around these days in the other Gay Leagueteams.
I would be very interested if any of the other ex-NSL teams (excluding Adelaide United and Perth Glory who grew out of the NSL) have such a high proportion of their players still playing.
If we were in the Gay Leaguewe would add a few more players, especially strikers and have a decent team. The question is though how many non-greeks would follow them? You would have all the non-ethnics saying that they do not represent me and stay away but in fact it is the same players they are watching now and consider as heroes. But the Gay Leaguesympathizers say lets forget about the old NSL teams because they were no good and that quality of Gay Leagueis sooooooooooo much better now. Arxithia.
