Back to the A-League. I'm not all that confident that the league will survive. In my opinion it would be suicide for Olympic to even consider an entry into the A-League. I say, stay as we are for now. Although the Gay Leagueplays down the problem, I believe that the crowds are very poor across the board and we have big money people holding up the game. The game has to be self funding as are the big leagues are around the world. In Australia, the people running the game are bigger than the game. This won't work in the long run and I don't see things changing anytime soon. Big crowds means big money and with the other well established codes that we have here the chances of Football getting great crowds is very low.

I'd love it if Olympic ever got into the A-League, what a come back that would be. On our terms only. We have to be financially secure and independent of the people running the A-League. I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I could throw them. If they ever got their hands on Olympic, that would be the end of our club. Our name, our money, our people running the club, ONLY.

I agree with this, if it's not on our terms then I'm happy to wait it out in the NSWPL.

The push for the Gay Leaguehas one simple philosophy that we all agree on. That Olympic should be playing top flight football. Whether it is now, 5 years, 10 years or more - it WILL happen. Whether it is in the Gay Leagueor whatever comes next - it will happen.
50 years plus lads and still here. We are growing, turning a profit.
All Gay Leagueclubs making a loss. Spirit, Power, Auckland, CCM, GCU - how long did these team play in the top flight - and survive.
We are something special!

It's not just that we are something special, the expenses at NSWPL level are a lot less than Gay Leaguelevel. Plus the Gay Leagueteams are playing at stadiums which don't get filled. There are a lot of factors at play. But I agree that Olympic could succeed in the A-league.

I have read quite a few posts on this forum, and as much as I respect and agree with the 'Ultras' supporters group and your intentions, remember that it is the Olympic board who will be splashing the cash and work out a way into the A-League. Despite Olympic obviously being a club which values their fantastic supporters, the politics of promotion are not in your hands, HOWEVER building on the remarkable attendances to games and continuing to create awareness via social networking is the right direction to be taking...
Consistent large crowds will not go unrecognised. IF there are 5-10 thousand supporters at home games each week for example, promotion would definitely be more likely. From what I have read also be wary of not sounding like a fool when defending Olympic on the internet, and be provocative in your opinions rather than provocative in your insults (despite perhaps being justified).
I find it disrespectful how the FFA continues to pursue creating new teams out of thin air with no history, home ground, current supporters or board members. Olympic has this all, and A League promotion can help build upon the crowds if that is an issue. Lowy is only in it for himself; this is obvious, and I believe it pains him to see the spirit of Olympic so strong after he did such a great job of destroying the old competition... quite honestly I think that perhaps he remains in office so he can veto against old NSL teams promotion.
If Olympic were to join the A League, there will be a definitely be a proud Greek following, however when the day hopefully comes we must accept and integrate with fans of all backgrounds in order to build attendance... A change of location or a change of name may occur, but Olympic has already had this happen. Whatever the case, it would be great for the game to have Olympic in the top tier. It is where they belong. I say this not just as a supporter, but as someone who wants the best for football in this country.
The Greek mentality of never really being satisfied and always pushing for more is evident.. where other clubs would be celebrating and relishing these recent achievements, Olympic strives for more... The board, team and supporters should be very proud of themselves. If Olympic continues this success, than as is the case with football in Australia, 'anything is possible.'

Thanks Mini and Paoktzi .. Paoktzi I was just trying to stress my point that crowds = recognition haha.. if there are particular page or discussion that talks about how you guys aim to bolster the Olympic numbers?

I agree crowds are the most important thing, but for me 2-4k in state league is massive.
Our whole plan is based around awareness similar to Kony 2012

On crowds first things first
To get the old Olympic fans that are now 28-40 years of age who use to regularly go to games during the NSL and now have families and kids or have lost interest and motivation in going to Olympic matches for various reasons, to come back
Like getting people to join the clubs facebook page or website so they know what is going on at the club, or simply talking to people and telling them that Olympic is still alive and kicking
