Sounds simplistic, but I was talking to a guy last year who used to go to most games about how Olympic was on top of the ladder in the NSWPL, and he was like 'serious, thats good man etc' its FNSW and FFA who dont give a fuck about the league, you have know idea how many people dont even know the NSWPL exists or that Sydney Olympic still exists

Trust me we know but if 8-12 guys can bring Olympic back from the dead imagine what 20-30 guys can do!!

How about new, young fans? In all respect many 28-40 year olds are busy in this day in age, and don't have the time to be committed Olympic members. With the permission of the board, why not reach out to the younger Greek community? This includes Greek language schools, the Orthodox schools, dance groups, church groups etc. The kids have more interaction and communication than older people also. The youth will come to the games via older people.. with their friends, classmates, brothers/papou/family... it will only spread. That's just my theory.

Theoharris our focus is purely on making new supportters but in the process old supportters get excited and all of a sudden find time!!
Point is ideas are fine and we have millions of them we need action n more soldiers

Theoharis mate welcome to the forum. All good ideas and a lot like what we've talked about at OU meetings and recent Olympic AGMs too. Agree with Paoktzi we need believers and people to dedicate their passion, sometimes time is too much to ask but we need a combined strength to present ourselves with.
The SUS boys are in denial they think it can't be done, the HAKOA crowd are haters they want us to fail, the old fans the doubters are waiting for someone else to do it for them, OU is where it happens, OU is Third Generation adherents to the Olympic religion!

I find it disrespectful how the FFA continues to pursue creating new teams out of thin air with no history, home ground, current supporters or board members. Olympic has this all, and A League promotion can help build upon the crowds if that is an issue. Lowy is only in it for himself; this is obvious, and I believe it pains him to see the spirit of Olympic so strong after he did such a great job of destroying the old competition... quite honestly I think that perhaps he remains in office so he can veto against old NSL teams promotion. 100% correct on this It is correct. But remember - we are mortals, Olympic is something that transcends mortality - it is there for generations. Like everything - the current status quo will not always be there. Lowy knows deep down that Olympic fans are the most stubborn pricks in Aussie football. We will not lie down. Other clubs accept their lot in life. As soon as you do that -t here is only one way you can go - backwards. If the Gay Leaguegoes bust tomorrow - most of the franchises will collapse. The money will dry up . I dont see them surviving in a state league. |
