agreed that his goalscoring rate has been good. my problem is that he doesn't look motivated any more. and even at his best, $1200 a week is too much money for state league players, in my opinion. as for rodbrown, not sure if i know the guy. sent him a PM asking who he is, but have received no answer as yet. would seem funny to me that i wouldn't know someone who regularly attends APIA games. Nothing wrong with clubs splashing the cash if they can, makes the comp more competitive and professional agreed, but that only works if you make those well paid players train full time. paying part-timers more money isn't going to lift the standard.

But that would mean the whole club would have to be professional which is difficult in this comp

But that would mean the whole club would have to be professional which is difficult in this comp correct, so if clubs can't afford to be full time, then they shouldn't be offering stupidly high wages.

I disagree. But we all have different opinions anyways. I see it as a way of a club striving to try and become fully pro. The case of Younis, defiantly not worth $1200 + goal bonusses, this is a case of BWE trying to buy the comp next year

i see this conversation was too intense for our learned "rodbrown". after seeing him on the forum, i sent him the folowing message:
hey mate, what's your name? wondering if i know you from APIA games.
after ingoring my friendly message, he then gets offended at being told he's talking crap on a forum discussion and sends me these 2 messages:
mate your a psycho. Take it easy. My name is Sam, and I'm good mates with Franco. Come up to me at a game. I'm not happy with how you have abused me for no reason over a forum.
Mate your a psycho. How dare you abuse me on a open forum! My name is Sam and I've been supporting Apia for a lot longer than whoever you are.
i then replied with this:
i don't think either qualifies as abuse or being psychotic. you were being arrogant and were blatantly ignoring my questions. why didn't you just say "i'm a good mate of a player and he told me the other day"? i'm just interested in this sort of club info. it's you who obviously has a chip on his shoulder and doesn't like being questioned.
and if you don't know me, don't make assumptions about how long i've supported the club. be a bit more like your mate franco, who is a very friendly and open person - instead of ignoring me until you felt i was having a go. my first message was friendly, but you didn't seem to wanna respond to friendliness!
he then responds with this:
That is fine mate.
I am not obliged to respond to you so I don not understand the need to attack me on the forum, what right do you have to do so? I am just as much as an Apia supporter as you are and am entitled to post on these fourms.
It is a real shame that you acted like such a tosser as we both clearly share a mutual love for Apia.
i responded with this:
forums are for conversations, not dictating to people. when you reply so quickly to argue with anyone who disagrees with you, yet go AWOL whenever someone asks you a legitimate question, then you're being the fuckin wanker who's obviously not here to converse with people.
and if you think what i said qualifies as abuse, then you need to harden the fuck up. you stuck up little shit!
MY POINT IS THIS, PEOPLE, LOOK AT WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST AT APIA! I'VE MET SOME GOOD MATES GOING TO APIA GAMES, BUT THE CLUB IS ALSO SO FULL OF THESE STUCK UP, ARROGANT, DIVISE, ANTI-SOCIAL ASSHOLES LIKE HIM. WHY WOULD THE DICKHEAD WANNA COME ON AN OLYMPIC FORUM AND NOT TALK TO ANY FELLOW APIA SUPPORTERS? AS I SAID BEFORE, HE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T LIKE CONVERSATIONS WHERE HE GETS QUESTIONED BY ANYONE. AND, LET'S FACE IT, NOBODY LIKES A KNOW-IT-ALL (PARTICULARLY WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN THINK THEY'VE GOTTA SAY WHERE THEY'RE GETTING THEIR INFO FROM).

I didnt join this forum to be abused. I just don't want to associate with you, simple as that. I joined to talk football not make friends. to talk football? that involves conversing with people, not just arguing. like i said in my last message to you - if you only wanna talk to people when it's negative, then don't bother. i didn't come on here to make friends either, doesn't mean i'm gonna go out of my way not to! if that's you're attitude, then social places (like discussion boards) are probably not for you. and if you don't wanna be "abused" on forums, you should probably lose that prick of an attitude. saying you just don't want to associate with me when you don't even know me is hardly a nice way to go about "talking" to people. think what you want about me, but do you honestly think your attitude isn't fuckin rude and anti-social?
