Recruits to help Suns shine BY MICHAEL CARAYANNIS 15 Feb, 2012 04:00 AM FORMER Gay Leagueplayer Paul Kohler headlines a list of recruits which Rockdale City Suns coach Wally Savor believes will help push the side towards a NSW Premier League finals spot. Kohler, 32, spent six years playing at the top level in Australia for Newcastle and North Queensland.
The defensive midfielder joins the Suns after a stint with arch rivals Sutherland Sharks.
"We're looking to reinvent ourselves a little bit," Savor said.
Kohler will be joined by former Sutherland teammate Huseyin Jasli, a midfielder, ex-Marconi player Nathan Jagelman, a striker, and right back Takuya Murayama who played for Bonnyrigg.
"We've bought much faster players," Savor said. "We've never been a free flowing attacking team because we'd come up from Super League we played defensively.
"We'll be looking to play attacking football. We won't be giving away the defensive part but we focused on that way too much."
Last season was disjointed for the Suns after they parted company with former coach Lee Sterrey midway through the year. They finished eighth.
Although Savor, a former Socceroo, took over last July he is only now putting his stamp on the club.
"I've strengthened our squad accordingly," Savor said.
"Some may lack Premier League experience but they have been fringe players at others clubs and are looking for an opportunity.
"I can see a lot of talent in them."
Savor said Young Socceroos player Aaron Lennox, 18, is pushing for a starting spot at goal-keeper.
In a blow, the club will be without last year's player of the year Shay Spitz who has moved to the US.
The NSW Premier League
season starts on March 31.

In all seriousness this Melita bullshit annoys the fuck out of me, the people running Melita are letting GDSFA just do what they like with Melita, they have been fucked big time with the stadium and other plans the club had
