THIS! I'm hesitant to accept that as the motive....is that really worth the money he's about to spend? And if he fails he's going to look like an even bigger retard than when he said he didn't like 'the game'.

I'm not talking about what I think about your credibility. I'm talking about your credibility amongst any football fan who has spent any time on Australian football forums over the last few years ... no, i'm not a judge of anything. You can do whatever you want.... but this is a forum, we cant all agree on everything In Greek we have a saying, 'sta arxidia mou', translates to my balls. To my balls what others think of us.

I seriously doubt that he gives a fuck about football. This is him vs Lowy/FFA. Like he said himself "if Frank wants to take me on then it'll be my money vs his" Something along those lines

Clive Palmer reportedly tried to lure young players to rebel competition before late intervention By David Davutovic Herald Sun March 02, 2012 8:28AM Clive Palmer is believed to have offered contracts to Gold Coast United's most talented young players to defect to a proposed rebel competition. The mining magnate reportedly approached at least five young players in a meeting just hours after Football Federation Australia (FFA) had revoked his club owner's licence, and insiders claim he offered improved contracts to switch to a breakaway league. It's understood Palmer promised to lure international stars to the league. If the players had chosen to go with him, under FIFA rules it could have jeopardised their international careers as the league may not have been sanctioned. Senior Gold Coast United players are believed to have intervened when they realised what was unfolding. Related Content Response: FFA laughs at Palmer power play + 38 Rebel: Palmer launches breakaway body + 156 As with handing the captaincy to 17-year-old debutant Mitch Cooper a fortnight ago, the billionaire appears to be making questionable decisions. Presumably he is trying to stick it up FFA for revoking his licence, yet it's believed he wrote to FFA in January threatening to withdraw from the competition. That's just one of many of Palmer's contradictions. Another is that he's doing it for the fans, yet he's alienated thousands of them on the Gold Coast. Maybe Palmer was trying to get the Gold Coast players on board so he could wave their contracts around at Thursday's press conference when he announced the formation of Football Australia, along with their chief executive Archie Fraser. So despite denials at the press conference, it appears a breakaway league is - or at least was - to be on Palmer's agenda. In a roundabout kind of way, this has the potential to galvanise the game as Gay Leagueclubs queued up to condemn Palmer's latest actions. Even FFA and the players' union, the Professional Footballers Association - who have been at war in recent months - found some common ground. www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/clive-palmer-reportedly-tried-to-lure-young-players-to-rebel-competition-before-late-intervention/story-e6frf4gl-1226286883895

So now it comes down to the court case....with the egg dripping on Palmers face will there be a happy ending for the FA's (haha) happy chappy?
The bad part is that it's going to take credibility away from the points that he's raised about FFA management.

Yep any good points he made about the corrupt FFA will not be taken seriously because of this other circus he has created

It's a publicity stunt. If he believes he's has enough talent in the Gay Leagueto run a rebel competition, he's living in lala land. Lowy loves football as long as he is in charge and does things his way. Well he can have things his own way, I support state football and wouldn't waste a cent on Sydney Hakoah FC. They are both out for themselves and their ego's.

Any Lawyers out there. Does Palmer have avenue for appeal? Or to sue the FFA?
