Maradona carried Argentina and Napoli on his back. Messi has a great team to work with.. Myth about Napoli. Napoli had a FANTASTIC team at the time

Maradona carried Argentina and Napoli on his back. Messi has a great team to work with.. Myth about Napoli. Napoli had a FANTASTIC team at the time Napoli did acquire some quality players yes - but it was Maradona who drove that team - and Napoli never had the quality of Barca today, or of an AC Milan just a few years later.

Messi is still quite young (24), and Maradona achieved what he did with Argentina at an age older than what Messi is now (26/7/8). The end of Messi's career will be a fair time to compare the two.. I was born after the Maradona era, however I've watched many old games, but I have never seen a better footballer than Messi.
A favourite footballer of mine is Patrick Vieria. He played with his heart on his sleeve, was furious in his challenges and carried a strong presence. At the same time he played with creativity and was a great dribbler of the ball. Growing up he was a favourite, and a modern legend.
Another favourite of mine and another Frenchmen was Zinedine Zidane, a total footballer. His technique was flawless. Incredibly intelligent also.
A player before my time, but one I have watched many times on old DVDs was Ruud Gullit. His athleticism and strength was incredible, but at the same time he was such a graceful, balanced and complete footballer.
