If Australia qualifies who do you think will be the main players in the squad?
If they qualify

Really tough to say. I suppose we can start by asking, who will stay from our current squad?
Im assuming Chipperfield and Schwarzer will be gone, same with Grella. Emerton and Kewell it will depend on their fitness, even Cahill to an extent. These guys would all be in the 35-41 category at 2014, far too slow and injury prone by then if not already now.
McDonald may get a chance if he's in form. Kennedy is for me our best striker atm because he suits our one-dimensional play.. 'run up the line, cross without looking, hope somebody is there'
Our entire squad will need a revamp, Valeri and Garcia in the midfield doesnt sound strong enough if you ask me. Havent seen Oar play but ppl have been going nuts over him, hope hes got what it takes! Vidosic for me is value. Dimi Petratos?! These three might be like Chile at the world cup juts behind the main striker, lightning pace at short bursts, tricks, skill, aggressiveness to take on defenders and beat them.
What about the rest of the squad?

IMO, the squad in 2014, with the right amount of experience, has the potential to better the 2010 campaign and possibly the 2006 campaign. I saw a possible squad on twgf. Looks good if you ask me.
---------------------------Federici-----------------------
Wilkshire-------Williams----Spiranovic-------Carney
---------------------------Valeri------------------------------
Vidosic----------------------------------------------------Oar
----------------------------Cahill------------------------------
--------------------Burns--------McDonald------------------
Jones Langerak Lowry Gulum Milligan Kantarovski/Davidson Jedinak Holman Holland Leckie Rukavytsya Kennedy
-------------------------
Stole this one from another forum. Your thoughts on it? Looks fairly promising if you ask me.

A lot of hoping in that mikey, oar has to hit, so does burns and vidisic.
valeri below average, wilkshire will be solid, williams will beok, maca is a legend.
A lot of hoping here, players on the verge of first team action and in lower leagues cannto give people the hopes of having a good campaign.
But if players like burns, oar and lowry can make it big time then things change

I am not the biggest follower of the Greek Super League, paoktzi, but what are your thoughts on Burns' development, and also his potential ability. Will he be a key member for AEK Athens this season. At the SFOF he was one of the stand out performers if you ask me.
As for Oar, it looks as though, at the age of 18 he is making giant steps already. He is on the verge of the starting line up, and is making regular sub appearances.
Lowry, well last week he was on the bench for Aston Villa, but doesn't look like breaking through to the starting line up unless injury strikes. A loan move may be best for him.
Finally Vidosic, his manager said this week that he was on the verge of cracking the first team , so hopefully we see some first team action from him otherwise a move elsewhere may be his best option.

Burns will be a benchy at AEK, he should of went back to Kerkyra as they have now been promoted to top flight and he would of been one of there main players they would still get relegated but he would be playing super league 90 minutes and not sitting on bench at AEK.
At AEK infront of him you have quality players such as:
Blanco, Liberopoulos, Scoco, Leonardo, Djibbour, Eder
I think he will get some game time but off the bench, but if he comes on in a derby and scores hell become a hero and play on.
So time will tell but on paper and based on history hell be on bench.
See OAR, VIDISIOC,LOWRY all have a long way to go but the soceroos are counting on them to become stars, so very very risky

the squads gonna be young as cause all the 2010 world cup people will be pensioners in 4 years and also the young players now will have 4 more years to develop so will probably be better anyways

Mikey, I see what your saying but it is very very optimistic.
Ill give you an example to what you are saying.
The italians have Ballotelli and Marcheda as an example.
Ballotelli is scoring goals for man city in europe and Marcheda is scoring goals for man united reserves you do not hear the italians screaming and carying on thet Marcheda will save them.
You need to look at what big players you have or players who are young and hitting straps now.
Because for example burns did not play in AEK's matches versus Dundee home or away, so hes game time seem to be minimal this year. Same goes for Lowry,Vidiosic and Oar
But time will tell
