Dear Sydney Olympic FC players, members, supporters and the wider football family,
We regret to announce that the General Manager of Canterbury City Council , Mr Jim Montague has advised us that Belmore Sports Ground remains unavailable for use by our club for another four weeks (refer attached letter). This means that the following home games will not be played at Belmore :
29/7, Round 17 v APIA
5/8, Round 18 v Blacktown City
19/8, Round 20 v Sutherland.
This is on top of earlier home rounds 6, 13, 14 & 15 where Council did not make the ground available for our use. It’s important to note that these decisions by Council have been mostly felt by our youngest teams as 70% of our club’s players are under the age of 18.
The Board’s frustration with the current situation at Belmore Sports Ground cannot be overstated and we strongly recommend that any concerns or complaints about the current situation be directed to Mr Jim Montague on 9789 9447.

The people to blame for this include anyone who has been a member of the club and previous directors of Sydney Olympic. A club the size of the Olympic in the old nsl days should own it's own ground. If I am correct the Hungarians had a stadium close to brighton. You guys should look at moving there. Again it is only a suggestion so there is no reason to swear at me.

^Every Olympic fan is aware of that, the people to blame are the people who ran the club from the early 80s to the late 90s when Olympic was a powerhouse.
The people running the club now are not to blame, they are a lot less wealthy than the people who ran the club in the heyday of the NSL, add to it that land/property in Sydney is at astronomical levels and it is difficult for the current owners to do anything...the 25 year lease was the saviour but the club has been lowballed by the bulldogs and the council

The only way we can get this council to see what they are doing wrong is to complain directly to this Jim Montague. All the parents players anyone associated with the club or even football followers in this council area should call and express there disgust especially when the dogds are still traing and he tells all in the letter that both clubs are to cease training and playing, he fails to add that the dogs have been training on the ground whilst both clubs were told to wait till 21st July. We all need to threaten them with our votes and the fact we voted them in (labour) and the fact that we also helped get the federal funding as these NRL clowns would not have recieved any financial help unless a joint sporting venture benefited from the renevations and use at Belmore Stadium. Now the dogs want it all for them selves, I'm calling and eveyone i speak to will as well, we need to express our views as voters in this council and that the elections are coming up soon.

Hi All, I called today and left my details and Jim the GM was not avaible to speak, too busy getting his golfing handicap down but they said they would get some developmment manager looking after this issue to call me, Wayne Copper or some fuckwit to call me, I called at 9am and still waiting a call back. I am a rate payer and tax payer and they can not afford to call me back although i'm paying the telephone bill. Fucking disgace........ Please ask all to call and break there balls.  |

I've been hearing that since I don't know when.
Where in Sydney can you purchase a ground now, even if we had the money.
Marconi stadium was a farm before, look at it now.
That goes for the other grounds out that way. Good luck to those clubs.
