I honestly don't think that the problems can be solved with the current President being in charge at the club. I appreciate and acknowledge that some of the things he has done are exceptional (the long term lease at Belmore isn't one of them - I credit that to the Bulldogs NRL Club), but the treatment of volunteers (not only me or my family) simply has to change. I can't make the Directors' change their behaviour. They have to do it themselves. I have been in discussions with several people close to me throughout this whole saga.. and I always believed that the solution would be for the former Vice President to take over... but now that he is gone... well, something huge and from way out of left field has to happen now. The critical thing to remember here is this: If the club has done what it's done to a family who has contributed so much over the last ten years.. then what hope do they have in attracting other people to step up and volunteer their time and efforts and money to help the club. New people are desperately needed to become involved. Sadly for Sydney Olympic, I can never be involved again. I look back at all the things I've done, all the sacrifices I made, all the arguments with family overy my voluntary work for the club and how it took time away from my family.. and it truly hurts me. I have become very bitter and I hope people can understand why. I loved the club so much.. and now that love is gone. That said, I sincerely hope that the directors have learned some big lessons out of what has happened. If my family and i are sacrificial lambs for the greater good of sydney olympic then so be it. I'd be glad to have helped the club even though I've been severely personally shafted in the process. The club can survive without me and my family. We are not the be-all-and-end-all of sydney olympic. Brilliantly said. Really? Where's the proposed, actionable solution? (I decide to self edit this line) Mr Inde

Inde,
The club is currently run by a puppet president but he is the one putting in the money. Until someone else can come in as a worthy replacement then nothing can be done.

I'm pretty sure that's more or less what I said.... so thanks Thrillos for putting it a bit more simply that I.

What I'm hearing here is resignation and dereliction of duty as a supporter.
Your suggestion that one President, that is keeping SOFC financially viable, be replaced by another with just as deep pockets is a worthless comment spited with obvious personal bias as it doesn't actually solve the problem (which is the long term independence and governance of SOFC). What's to say the next bloke or woman to come along isn't going to be someone elses' puppet?
How about suggesting a way that all supporters (or even those just on this forum) can actively participate in a way that won't leave SOFC dependent on these "benefactors" and how to create independent income streams that can be managed by an impartial board.
Time to take off the blinkers and see the bigger picture.

Mr Inde If I am being seen as resigning and being derelict in my duty as a supporter, in favour of sticking up for my family and choosing them as the highest priority in my life, then so be it. The comments by thrillos are not worthless to me or my family, though they may be worthless to Sydney Olympic.

I said that the next President needs to be 'worthy' and by worthy I don't mean needs to be loaded. I mean he/she needs to have the club's best interests at heart and works closely with a strong board which looks after the short and long term interests of the club, its members and supporters. I don't think that is narrow minded at all.

I'm not talking about your opinion or anything.
I'm talking about you speaking in a mysterious way like Phoenix. He has had that writing style copyrighted for years.
