The biggest mistakes made by predeceasing board members and owners of Olympic is to not get us a long-term home or a social club. Despite being in the State League, our Board Members, for the first time in the history of our 53 year old Club, got us a long term Home, with Belmore Sports Ground being our home for the next 25 years!
However, the more difficult part is now getting a social Club together. Knowing we have Belmore Sports Ground for a quarter of a Century, obviously the smartest thing to do is to look for a Club in the Belmore Area.
The first three places in Belmore that come to my mind is the Lymnos Club, the Bowling Club next to Belmore Sports Ground and Megisti Blu.
The best thing would obviously be the Bowling Club, but how can we acquire it for ourselves?
I simply do not know the answer, perhaps someone else on this forum can fill me in. However, ultimately nothing can happen unless the Board makes an initiative.
Perhaps the Board should make a seperate Bank Account where funds towards acquiring a Club, even something small and shitty like Magesti Blu for food and drinks and dance.
But for the long-term viability of the Club we need something big enough that can fit in 20+ pokies.
Solution?
The Club needs to sit down and think hard about how this will work.
They need to set a goal, say maybe 2 million to 2.5 million that will cover acquiring the property, any renovations, building a kitchen, a good chef, and a pokies room.
Open a bank account, where the bank details are easily available for donations to be made. Speak to the Greek Communities and Churches for sponsorship and the Ultras engaging in fundraisers and etc.
This CAN be achieved within the next 5 years if we all strive for it!
