Sydney UNI v Sydney Olympic Women Trial Games Results
posted by on February 21, 2011
Sydney Olympic women teams had trial games this weekend against another Premier League Club and even though the differences between the teams were evident throughout the age groups our teams seemed to be improved in comparison to last weekend.
Reports on the games can be found below:
Under 12s girls
Half time: Sydney UNI 3 Sydney Olympic 0
Full time: Sydney UNI 5 Sydney Olympic 0
The girls started the match on the back foot, with Sydney UNI attacking predominately on their right hand side. It was not one of the girl’s better performances with some simple errors in defense costing us a couple of goals.
Demi Karahlis was again a threat up front but had limited support and Steph Kapsimalis had promising second game of the year. We will continue to work on the basics in our game and the improvement in results will follow suit.
Under 14s girls
Half time: Sydney UNI 1 Sydney Olympic 0
Fulltime: Sydney UNI 3 Sydney Olympic 1
As the girls blended in there has been a bonding that need to be looked at but overall the girls in the conditions did well.
There were some promising moves and the girls adjusted very well. We have a lot of work to do and the girls are prepared to work on it during training to be able to get all we want out of the season.
To all the girls, keep it up for it’s a long season.
Under 16s girls
Fulltime: Sydney UNI 2 Sydney Olympic 4
The team put in a gutsy and spirited performance against a much fancied opponent. The girls moved the ball with confidence and were robust in their challenges.
The co-coaches were extremely proud of their efforts. At one stage the score was 2-2 but our inexperience saw us lose 4-2.
Well done girls let’s keep up the momentum!
Reserve Grade Women
Half time: Sydney UNI 1 Sydney Olympic 0
Fulltime: Sydney UNI 3 Sydney Olympic 0
The girls played in very hot conditions and as this match was once again Super League verses Premier League it really wasn't a bad full Time result.
Our back is quite strong, holding good form and with the midfielders working hard the girls were able to hold UNI back from scoring until the 35th minute.
In the second half it took UNI 20 minutes to be able to score their second goal. The third only 5 mins later - however, having come off the rugby post should not have been allowed.
The team has improved yet again on last week. All in all, a good match.
1st Grade Women
Half time: Sydney UNI 4 Sydney Olympic 0
Fulltime: Sydney UNI 9 Sydney Olympic 0
The First grade team went on to the park depleted in numbers due to absence of first grade members so the team took to the field with Reserve grade players who in the heat 9 reserve graders including bench players braved the conditions and a fully fit Sydney Uni side.
The coach would personally like to thank the reserve grade side for their efforts and courage , as they fought extremely hard till the end , without a doubt the coaching staff have noticed talent in Reserve grade and if not soon enough they will be handy first grade players.
Also thanks must be given to the first grade players which showed up to brave the conditions.
Well done girls
