I bet you more Gay Leagueclubs have folded in the first 6 years of the league when it was trendy to go and watch than in the last 6 years of the NSL when there was no money, TV exposure, or boost from World Cup qualification. So don't go bagging old NSL clubs because if it wasn't for them keeping the flame going and producing the players that went to the last 2 World Cups there would be no professional football in Australia. If we left it up to the non-ethnic aligned clubs like Parramatta, Spirit, Carlton and Collingwood Warriors we would be watching park football, which is basically the standard that HAKOA is currently playing.

Jesus if Sydney are playing park football I grimace at the standard of State League when Parra Eagles can make it in.

I never State League standard was good. State League is just as bad if not worse. Only difference is the Gay Leagueare full time and are fitter because they train more. Surely you can't be happy with the stuff than HAKOA has been producing this year? I wouldn't watch the crap they have been dishing up even if you paid me. And don't think this year is any different to previous years when they won the league. The NSL teams of the 80's and early 90's would eat the current Gay Leagueteams up and spit them out. All it goes to prove is that the standard of football in Australia has dropped alarmingly in the past 10 years.

Which proves that the standard was better in the NSL. Emerton would beat HAKOA by himself. That Sydney Olympic team would be so far in front at half time they would not have to come out for the second half and HAKOA still would not be able to catch them.
I don't know how old you are Guest or if you followed the NSL but Olympic had even beater teams in the 80's and could not win competitions as the NSL was so strong at that point. If the Roar is the best team being some 10 points in front of everyone with McKay and Murdocca as their centre midfielders, it just shows how low the standard has dropped.

I fail to see how the standard dropping is the FFA/A-Leagues fault when these are still players produced by the NSL teams. Only 20 so only witnessed the downfall of the NSL through Parra Power. Alex Tobin was gun still.

I excuse you then as you have probably been caught up in the smoke and mirrors that the FFA has produced. Are you aware that Lowy and his club Sydney City was a founder of the NSL but he pulled his team out in 1987 when he saw no future in football in Australia? Why does he suddenly think there is a future now?
