Q: With the season kicking off in a few days, how do you feel the pre-season training went for you and the team? Which of your fellow players have impressed you during this period?
A: Preseason has been excellent and I think our Conditioning coach Efrem has done a very good job. He’s worked on our strength and fitness and I think the team is seeing the rewards now. I think the standouts have definitely been the Triantis brothers and I hope they can take this form into the season. Alex Smith is someone that has caught my attention, I’m a big fan of his and I think he’s one player who can be the x-factor for us this season. Robert Mileski and Richard Luksic are 2 experienced players who bring a lot to the team. I think Robby will definitely be a crowd favourite because he’s by far the most direct player in the competition and he’s a player who can score at anytime. Brett Studman will make a huge impact also because he’s the most intimidating defender in the league and he’s competitiveness will certainly strengthen the team.
Q: Can you see many differences in the pre-season from last season and this season? If so what do you think has made a difference the coaching staff, the quality of players or both?
A: This preseason has been more structured due to Efrem implementing all his modern day sports science. Tseka & Flea are both very competitive coaches and I think this will rub off onto the players and I’m hoping for a big season from the boys. The recruitment that the coaching staff is definitely a lot better than previous seasons and I think it’s a very good balance.
Q: With West Sydney Berries out of the Premier League and Parramatta in the top tier, how do you think the competition will be this season? Who do you believe are the favourites for top 5?
A: Look to be honest i would prefer Canterbury in the league because Olympic vs Canterbury is a great competitive game to play in and I enjoyed it last season. I think Parramatta will be competitive but I wouldn’t expect them to make a huge impact just yet.
My top 5 are as follows:
Bonnyrigg
Olympic
Sydney United
Sutherland
Marconi
Q: What are your personal expectations for the 2011 season? Where would you like to see Olympic at the end of the 2011 season?
A: My personal goals are to play every game this year and to dominate the middle of the park. I feel if we’re dominant in the midfield it will go a long way in deciding whether we will be title contenders. I want Sydney Olympic to be feared by other teams and I feel if the more experienced players step up this year we will do very well. Semi Final football is a minimum this year and nothing less is good enough.
Q: First game of the season is on Sunday the 27th of March 2011 against South Coast Wolves? What are you expecting from this game?
A: I’m expecting Wollongong to come out firing but I think we should really get the 3 points. I think if we follow Tseka’s game plan we will do the business.
Q: What message would you like to get out to all the supporters of the Club for the 2011 Season?
A: My message is to come support the team and be vocal. I am a big fan of what the Ultras are doing and I think the Greek community should get behind us. We have a good team this year and I think the Sydney Olympic crowd can be our 12th man. The players are roaring to go this season and we want everyone to come and watch us. I’m very proud to be a player of this club and I know my team mates feel the same. I have been watching Sydney Olympic since I was 6 years old and I think this season we will all shine.
