A win for Olympic a week before the competition starts
posted by on March 21, 2011
Sydney Olympic played against Sutherland on Saturday the last trial game of the season, just a week before the competition commences this coming Sunday.
The final result was 2-1 to Olympic but the score could have been different if Olympic wasn’t disallowed one goal and our strikers didn’t miss a couple of good chances they had.
The team started slow in the first 15 minutes but slowly picked up after some minor adjustments made by the coaching staff and were the better side on the ground for the rest of the 1st half.
The team looked very solid in the second half and created a number of opportunities, other than the two goals scored by Ibrahim Haydar and Bill Tsanidis that has recovered from his injury from the Charity Cup and is ready for the first game of the season against South Coast Wolves.
The line up for Olympic against Sutherland was: Vekic, Kalouris, Haydar, Tsanidis, Giannaros, Gullo, Smith, Makrys, Triantis, Mileski and Husky Akil. Also Tob Bamber, William Angel, Peter Triantis also played.
Richie Luksic, Brett Studman, Mitchell Stamatelis and Paul Henderson were unavailable for this game.
Some very positive signs leading up to the season opener this Sunday and the coaching staff and players of Sydney Olympic are looking forward to the game at Wollongong.
The Under 20s lost against Sutherland 3-2 with Stevan Ilic and Luke Gearin scoring the goals for Sydney Olympic.
