Sydney Olympic game for Round 10 of the Football NSW Premier League will be played at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday 29 May 2011 at 3.00pm against Rockdale City Suns.

After a goalless draw at Marconi stadium last weekend, where Sydney Olympic played the whole of the second half with a player less, as Chris Triantis got sent off with a red card on the 41st minute of the game, the ‘blues’ are ready to give their best shot for 3 points away from home against Rockdale City Suns, at the second from last game away from home, as on the 12th of June Belmore Sports Grounds will open its gates for the second round home games of Sydney Olympic.


Rockdale City Suns signings this season were Kosta Lagoudakis, Shay Spitz, Jason Naidovski, James Monie that played for Sydney Olympic last season, Lisandro Berbis, Adrian Karakolevski, Anthony Perri, Sash Tirovski, Steven Veleski, Mirko Jurilj that also played for Sydney Olympic in 2009, Dion Shaw, Giorgio Speranza, Roberto Speranza.

Terrible pitch made it tough to play football but we came out and knocked the ball about nicely in the second half

Giannaros and gullo were very good moving up the park turning defence into attack

Makrys was solid and the rest of the midfield if not outstanding

From the pinnacle of world class football in the morning to a dirt paddock in the afternoon, this confronted many Olympic supporters today.

The quality of play was already preset at Rockdale's home ground, and the enthusiasm from the players reflected the sombre mood.
Amongst the dirt and sand patches there were patches of ground that closely resembled grass.

Last week's sent-off of C.Triantis came the straight swap for the returning Makrys.

Early play was generally poor from both teams as they tried to make something of the cold afternoon.
The wind at Olympic's back had benefits but most balls ran long or skewed away from the outset.

From a standard freekick that usually produces a poor outcome, the floating ball from Makrys found the middle of the Rockdale penalty box however pushing by their defenders had Luksic sprawled on the ground to which the referee blew for a penalty.
Rarely does a situation like this arise these days in football and Makrys did not waste the opportunity to put Olympic into the lead midway through the first half.

An increased level of confidence was evident with the lead.
The marginal improvement from Olympic produced some further chances with Smith coming close to converting after rounding the keeper but with the layoff to Gullo had the youngster fail to convert.

Nevertheless another long pass over the Rockdale defence had their keeper come out too far and fumble the ball. It was then that Gullo made right this time around and sweetly planted his shot to take Olympic to a 0-2 lead.

The second half performance was always going to require Olympic to play the ball on the ground with an increasing headwind.
More width was utilised with some strong runs from Giannaros on the right. Greater control up the middle from the likes of Markys and Smith opened up the Rockdale defence however the finishing touches were poor with little troubling their keeper.

Rockdale did come close towards the end but again the value of Henderson was on display to again keep a clean sheet.
Although defence was not overly troubled today, Studman once again played a solid game and is beginning to come into his own this year and taking on leadership qualities with his tenacity and presence when he moves forward.
The flankers of Gullo and Angel once again clocked up the mileage and kept turning around the Rockdale defence.
The attackers failed to score for the second week in a row but that's not to say their work off the ball and support play has gone unnoticed.

Results have gone Olympic's way this week, and now have opened up a 4 point margin at the top of the ladder with a week to go in this first round with all games away from home.
Quite a remarkable achievement considering the turmoil of whilst in the NSWPL.

Job only half done, and next week's away match at Bonnyrigg should be one not to miss.
Hopefully the midweek cup game does not bring an individual undone and a full squad is available for selection.
