Sydcro, 150k is a bit low for Melbourne while I doubt the Government is lying...I have a feeling that there would be a large number of Greeks who did not declare Greek descent.

I see your points, but there are many uneducated people out there who think that the census is a way for the Government to identify who the 'foreigners' are so they can give them trouble when dealing with government matters. Of course that mentality is wrong, but the people exist and usually in large numbers.
In my opinion I would think that Melbourne's Greek population would number around the 250K mark, but that's including everyone of Greek descent.

There are more Greeks in the United states and Canada, but are spread out over more cities. It is logical that this would be the case as Australia really only has two large cities, Sydney and Melbourne. There are Greeks in every city of Australia and even in some out of the place towns like Wagga. |

150,000 is a bit low considering Melb is the third largest Greek speaking city in the world, but Larissa and Giannina have more then 150,000 people???
