The only thing with this that I see as suspect is that if we accept that HAKOA are in a stronger competition, shouldn't Kalac have gone to Sydney United first (for experience) and then move on to HAKOA and not the other way round.

It's good to see that he's at Sydney United though. At the end of the day, whether he played any games for AC Milan or not is not the issue, he still trained with the club and that experience alone is good and can now be passed down onto Sydney United juniors, and he did play for the National team in a world cup which is an experience that not many Australian National players have.

For all we know, his singing on with HAKOA previously may have been an act of good will towards the FFA or something along those lines. I don't see it as something sinister or as supporting a rival club, they paid him as a consultant and nothing more or less.

Zdrilla had mentioned United a few times while playing/coaching. Usually something along the lines of "we're playing tomorrow". But Zdrilla has never come across as the type of bloke who cared too much

Zeljko has mentioned the club even more... especially when his game against Newcastle was coming up. He talked us up heavily at that point.

At the end of the day, they're getting paid to be professional on TV. It's not always possible to bring up Sydney United when you're talking about Arsenal vs Ajax or Madrid vs ManUtd.
