Your comparing a war that had 4-5 warring parties, resulted in genocide against Serbs, Croats and Muslims, the fall of communism in a non-Soviet bloc area, the establishment of 5 new countries, displaced people becoming minority in newly established country and a huge issue of refugees, compared to Emerton going to play for HAKOA instead of the state league with Sydney Olympic?

Your comparing a war that had 4-5 warring parties, resulted in genocide against Serbs, Croats and Muslims, the fall of communism in a non-Soviet bloc area, the establishment of 5 new countries, displaced people becoming minority in newly established country and a huge issue of refugees, compared to Emerton going to play for HAKOA instead of the state league with Sydney Olympic? You really don't need to get on the history lesson highhorse and get the Croats on the forum all excited. There's a point being made and you've totally lost it here. Point being, there are identities involved which are distinct, honoured and not mutually respected. These identities aren't readily exchangable, you can't be one thing one day and one thing the next. This thread and this argument, being about BRETT EMERTON, is about the fact that he's pissing on what the Olympic identity is for the sake of; Developing his career? No Earning shitloads more money than what he already was? No So what else would be considered a legitimate reason for his decision? To help Australian football? Re, Olympic IS Australian football who the fuck is HAKOA To move his family back to Australia? Which stops him playing for Olympic how? If he really loved Olympic and really was here to develop the game in Australia he'd come play for us, give all the newdawners a reason to scratch their heads and think, 'oh, is what what passion really is? Is that what loyalty really is? Is that what history really is?' the farken Cigan is right, we've been at war against the forces in Australian football that have fucked us for 5years, whoever they may be, and half the people don't even realise we are at war

A better comparison would have been Sydney United and HAKOA... not Croats and Serbs
Just saying

Especially since people can't play for foreign nations...So the Croatians couldn't play for Serbia even if they wanted to....bad example....
The example you are looking for is Dynamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split.
