If you blokes dont see anything wrong with a player being signed a week out from the finals then fair enough.
It makes a joke out of the entire competition whether he was an Olympic player at the start of the season or not.
Oh well... see you in 2 weeks hopefully

Maybe... But the governing body allowing shit like this only helps to perpetuate that perception

It doesn't look right, I agree. But which club would knock back an opportunity like that 1 week before the end of the season ? None !

I'm not knocking Olympic for doing it, I'm knocking FNSW for allowing something like this to happen. It's a joke.
Olympic have every right to exploit dumg shit like this. I'd expect United to do the same if the opportunity presented itself

Nothing wrong with what happened. He was contracted to us til end of year, and contracted with the from start of the A League season. Didn't need to be de listed so he wasn't so he is thus eligible

Didn't need to be de listed so he wasn't so he is thus eligible That doesnt sound right at all. Articles state that GCU had to terminate his contract so he was obviously under contract with them if that is the case To have a contract with them he would have had to have been de-registered with Olympic as you're not allowed to be dual registered as far as I know. Someone on another forum suggested that it's possible that GCU had never processed all the necessary paperwork to have him deregistered here and registered in the A-League. Only possibility I can think of Either way... it has worked out for Olympic. Good luck with it. Just a further illustration of the incompetence present at all levels of football admin in this country

On the other hand...if he had not been allowed to play for Olympic he would be without a club now.
I haven't been following Smith's time at GCU...was his contract actually paid out? I didn't think that GCU had that kind of money to throw away like that?
