posted by on September 1, 2011
Sydney Olympic FC are a victory away from obtaining the 2011 Minor Premiership and will be looking to claim the much needed 3 points this Sunday 4th September 2011 at Belmore Sports Ground, against the 10th placed APIA Leichhardt Tigers outfit, who will do their very best to spoil Olympic’ Minor Premiership hopes and chances.
Sydney Olympic FC have a 1 point lead over rivals Sydney United who are in 2nd place on the NSW Premier League table, and who will also be in action on Sunday afternoon against Blacktown City FC at the Sydney United Sports Centre .
Nevertheless, Sydney Olympic will have their minds set on one thing alone and that is , a victory, in order to secure their position at the top of the NSWPL table and raise the 2011 Minor Premiership trophy in front of their loyal supporter base at Belmore Sports Ground.
Sydney Olympic FC coach Peter Tsekenis is in positive spirits but believes that his side should not underestimate their opponent, APIA Leichhardt Tigers.
“We are up against a pretty good side and it will be a tough game, [as] their position on the table is not a true indication of their quality” Tsekenis said
Furthermore, Tsekenis stressed the importance of this weekend’s ‘must win’ clash saying that it is “An opportunity to win the Minor Premiership. We are going out to win the game; the ball is in our court”.
Regardless of the result this Sunday, Tsekenis believes that his side has had a great season as Sydney Olympic FC has been at the top of the NSWPL table, in 1st position since Round 7 of the competition.
Tsekenis said that “It [the success of the season] is great, considering the results of past seasons. We have exceeded the expectation and raised the bar. That is a credit to the entire club and the players”.
Tsekenis reinforces the importance of supporters with support definitely considered paramount and essential this Sunday to get the team ‘over the line’. Peter Tsekenis and the entire Sydney Olympic Football Club encourages all Sydney Olympic FC supporters to attend this Sunday’s game and cheer on the ‘Blues’ in their quest to obtain the Minor Premiership.
“If you are a true Sydney Olympic FC supporter then please make an effort to support the boys, it will be like having an extra player on the park. The boys both deserve and have earned the support” Tsekenis stated.
Entertainment will also be provided for all in attendance on the day with DJ Vourli and DJ Mikey Mz spinning some tracks, as well as, bouzouki player Perry Tsepetzis who will also be performing on Sunday afternoon.
