They'll never be allowed, the problem isn't the flare itself, it's the people who use them...it's not going to take much, in the moment of excitement someone may not be disciplined enough to stay calm and could injure someone else. The risk it too big...We'll keep it outside the ground and at training matches.

I sometimes wonder if some of you are mentally challenged.
Do you know what kind of insurance implications 'legalising' flares would have? Amongst other things...
Decisions on flares aren't only down to FNSW. All grounds would have their own rules and restrictions. Good luck convincing any council to let anyone use flares at a ground owned by them.
I'd say a decision to allow flares would also attract the attention of the cops.
I worry about you blokes, I really do.
... And I can really see the board down at FNSW taking a letter from supporters asking to be allowed to pop flares very seriously. You cunts are either taking the piss or completely deluded

Either way, I think if you did some investigation you'd find that flare use at a public ground violates actual laws
Ie. It's not something put in place by FNSW that they can decide to remove

Paoktzi, flares to my knowledge were never allowed at grounds in Australia even in the NSL days. No matter how hard you try, get petitions, etc, they will be banned and as SUS & sydcro write will only cause trouble for the clubs involved and that's the last thing the clubs need. Although not in Australia, I will always remember the flares at OAKA when Machlas scored against Russia that sent Greece through to USA 94. The stadium was alight and the referee who was from some African country had no idea what was happening. He looked scared. said flare show:

I guess it comes down to what we like and what is allowable by law.
I think flares are awesome - they add to the atmosphere. But reality is they will never be allowed.
If you are prepared to use them - be prepared that there will be consequences that could potentially take away from efforts to support the team (ie increased attention from security/police).
I would love to see an entire stadium lit up with them - reality is - the authorities will come down on us.
