To all the rival Ultras here that think they're all that we wanna hear your thoughts on flares, their use for and against, and your best experiences using them in chants or in general if any. Maybe for the older folk it was a lot more common in Australian football prior to the Lowy invasion, we'd like to hear more

Im massively against any use of flares in the ground. Only causes problems. In terms of experiences: - somewhere between 50-70 flares in Newcastle back in 2002 - about 50 at the Friendship Cup in Sydney back in 06 - numerous others... would take too long to mention. The above two are probably the ones that stand out. There are other massive pyro shows we had but I wont mention them as they werent involving Sydney United When it comes to pyro, us and MCF will always be #1 But those days are over when it comes tr NSWPL

Paoktzi, flares to my knowledge were never allowed at grounds in Australia even in the NSL days. No matter how hard you try, get petitions, etc, they will be banned and as SUS & sydcro write will only cause trouble for the clubs involved and that's the last thing the clubs need.
Although not in Australia, I will always remember the flares at OAKA when Machlas scored against Russia that sent Greece through to USA 94. The stadium was alight and the referee who was from some African country had no idea what was happening. He looked scared.

Do u guys think if we worked together we could get them sanctioned by the guys in FNSW to be used in a certain area of the ground? flares now days at football matches at considered to be used as dangerous weapons, if caught, a massive fine, and charges will be made. the FFA are cracking down hard and giving out 5 year bans for the guys that get caught.
