Newly promoted NSW Premier League outfit Blacktown Spartans are calling Blacktown Football Park its new home for its entire setup involving their juniors, seniors and women’s players for 2012 and beyond.
The newly built $6.8 million dollar state of the art precinct, designed strictly for football will feature one boutique artificial surface pitch with a grandstand holding approximately 1000 people as well as undercover seating of 278 will also have the newly furnished offices of Blacktown District Soccer Football Association present on site.
With the funding assistance from State Government ($5 million) and the remainder from BDSFA the new precinct will also have two extra training pitches as well as the ability to have four more should more money be poured into this exciting project.
The dressing rooms have all been built from scratch as well as the canteen, media facilities, disabled access, car park and a state of the art PA system which will truly make Blacktown Football Park a wonderfully equipped venue for the round ball game in NSW.
Turf One have been responsible for the artificial surface that has already been laid out at the complex. (Turf One are the Australian suppliers of the U.S. company Field Turf.) The two-star rated artificial pitch was put to the test last week when it passed the gruelling FIFA test that gave the pitch the green light to showcase matches from 2012 onwards and was regarded as being the only two-star rated artificial pitch in NSW.
Renovations are busily taking place during the Christmas and New Years break but the venue will be completed come kick-off time in March 2012 next year with the official opening scheduled sometime in February.
BDSFA’s Yorkshire born CEO Jack Taylor has been delighted with the overall project and cannot wait to see the complex in full flight in 2012.
“It’s been 23 years in the making and has been a long drawn out project but it’s been the culmination of a lot of people’s dreams which has now become a reality.
“It’s great that the unveiling of this wonderful complex will coincide with the entry of our senior men’s squad into the NSW Premier League as well as the pitch being accessible to all our junior and women’s sides.
“Let’s not forget the fact that we will also have the ability to stage tournaments and events so it’s definitely an exciting era for all involved here at BDSFA and the Blacktown Spartans.”
