The only footage available on youtube is Alistair Edwards 1st goal in that match www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpCPP8Dw30cSBS and ABC would have the footage of most of the NSL content so maybe you could contact them. PS Didnt Olympic sell some sort of DVD a couple of years ago? Has anyone seen it? Whats on it?

I was right above Edwards in the grand stand when he scored that goal. We almost fainted. We were desperate to give it to the makarounathes that day. The Marconi fans were very confident before the game, but our boys came out firing and played the whole game the same way. I spent most of the second half hugging and jumping up and down with the old man sitting next to me. We had never met before that game. What a day, what a victory that was. One of our club's best days.

Re tous makarounades....
can only imagine what that day would've been like, if only I were born!
Proud to have inherited this history and this legacy!

I was on the hill behind the goal where Edwards scored and it was mayhem. The macarounades didn't even look like scoring that day. Dakos and Bernal had them covered all day. I remember being outside the dressing rooms a few hours after we won and older men who had followed the club for years crying after we won our first championship. It meant that much to them. If my memory is correct, I think the players broke the trophy from its base in the dressing room. Some of the older forum readers might be able to confirm this.

The broken trophy was from the 2001 - 2002 championship....Unless we broke both trophies hahahaha.

If anyone remembers - we scrapped into the top 5 on goal difference that year I think. We then went on to beat Adelaide United, South South Melbourne, Melbourne Croatia then Marconi. Great memories.
After the match they interviewd Andrew Bernal who said
"so much for the Rolls Royce team of Australia (Marconi), we're the ferraris but we haven't got a garage"

That Olympic team had some tough players in it. Maybe not glamour players but very solid team players. That defence was strong. I'll never forget that win. No one gave us a chance. Especially Marconi.
