I remember that grand final win. We were at my thio's house for a barbecue. The celebrations whilst eating souvlakia at 13 years old was epic.

I was at Crest Hotel at Sylvania where the Olympic supporters gathered. Place went off when Milicic scored and at full time.
I agree with you Levendara that we had better teams that never won the competition. The mid 80's teams of Rasko, the Kat, Kalantzis, Soper, Estavillio Dakos, Jennings, Meier, etc were better players than the 2 championship winning sides but just goes to show how strong the competition was back then. Sydney City and Marconi were strong teams back then. We might have hated Sydney City but they won 4 titles in 10 years and everyone accepted that they were the best team. It took South Melbourne 30 years to win the same number and they were voted the Oceania team of the century. A joke in my opinion.

Lowy's money bought Hakoah championships, Hakoah never had any soul or supporters.
You're right about the 80s and 90s even. APIA, St George, Hakoah, Preston, Marconi, South, Heidelberg, Brunswick, Adelaide City, West Adelaide, S United, M Knights all had great sides, very difficult to win Championships with so many top class teams

Endless what a weekend THAT DAY WAS
Olympic 1 DEF Glory Nil
From the march by 300 odd Olympic fans 2 hours before kickoff from the city to the train station to Subiaco. Bringing the city of Perth to a standstill
To the noise on the plane when we got off Perth airplane on Friday night with THE chant of Olympic Olympic Olympic
To the chants of Olympic Olympic at various nightclubs on friday and Saturday night
To more chants of Olympic Olympic with a few hundred going to watch Perth Athena on the Sat with the Perth GREEKS inviting us to the game
To the midnight return flight with 80 per cent of the plane with Olympic players officials owners suppouters on that flight
What a weekend
