Guys I am 45 and started following Olympic from the early 80's. If Olympic needed a player or money, the Greeks would dig into their pockets and the money was found. I remember there was a guy carrying an empty box of beer at St George Stadium and people were making donations so they could raise the money to buy Scott Ollerenshaw. Off memory the fee was $45,000.
Unfortunately politics and peoples own agendas stopped Olympic being the real powerhouse of football in Australia. I am sure opportunities came up over the years to buy land, clubhouses, etc but for whatever reason the club did not take them. Opposing teams in Sydney plus Wollongong, Newcastle, etc could not wait to play Olympic as they knew we would bring supporters and it would be their biggest crowd for the year. I think it reflects poorly on the Greek community that we do not have a clubhouse and ground after all the years that Olympic/Pan Hellenic has been around. The Cypriots at least have a club.

Stanmore hawks don't own the club. The Cyprus Community own the social club and te football club but organize them as different entities but connected.

Greeks own half of Sydney with all the property in town and in the suburbs
It reflects poorly on Olympic that Olympic doesn't have a club.
What's more embarrassing is that pretty much none of the aleague team do either.
Even more embarrassing is that, as football clubs are meant to play footbaall, Sydney united has never won an NSL
LOL

Mini its called smart business to separate the 2 entities, like Stanmore, Marconi, Syd United etc Yes but the main entity is the social Club, not the football club. The football club wouldn't exist without the social club, while the social club would be fone without the football entity. The committee of the social Club also has the power to over rule the football club committee if they wanted too
