Everyone I look back thinking what went wrong at our old Social Club at Sydney Olympic Sporting club at Hurlstone Park.
The young Olympic Ultras to know what went wrong.
So many years we had team Our PanHellenic - Sydney Olympic football team since 1957 creating History everyday for team.
Sydney Olympic had alot of oppurtunities to buy a Social Club so the whole Greek Commuinty in Sydney and us the fans to soclalise have a drink talking any subjects bring young and Old together.
Originaly they did once and it was in waterloo unfortunatly it was rented in the building.
Sir Auther George was the Chairman of the old FFA he was patron at our SYDNEY OLYMPIC FC he had alot of connections he found at the old Rugby League Newtown Jets leagues Club was going bankrupt by force they had to sell the building at Stanmore.
It was a great opportunity as always fate argumments and disaggreements happened they were that close buying .It ist at Today Stanmore Cypriot community club club is bought by the Cypriots community which is a good bulidiing In my opinion.
Since then we never had a social Club since.
In the early 90's Simon Konsantinidis was the president at Sydney Olympic a lawyer he wanted a social Club for SYDNEY OLYMPIC an old club bulding with Tenns courts big car park it was perfect for the Greek Commuity in the Canterbury-Marrickville district so they can socalise few people disagree that we do'nt deserve ex President Simon Constantinidis did'nt listen he went ahead for the good of the club name.
The revenation started applying Club liceens and liquor licens as all clubs in Nsw.
In 1993 the club was completed it was officialy opened finaly we had a social Club that we wanted for so many years it was perment.
There were alot of VIP the ex Prime Minister Paul Keating offical open with Simon Constantinidis, other Vip the owner of the Foreighn MEDIA press owner Of the Greek Hearald Theo Skalkos who donated $10,000 and recieved the golden key to open the door at the Sydney Sporting Club.
Finaly the Sydney Olympic Supporters and the Greek community have some where to go a club for us.
Poker machines club KENO,TAB for everyday and an Sydney Olympic football club office Monday-Frday 9-5pm.
Every Friday Saturday was Greek singers bouzoukia it was busy.
You will be lucky to have a tabel especialy SATURDAY nights.
During the School Holiday I spend time with my uncle he was a member at Sydney Olympic Sporting club I things especialy Lunch the food was Ok Buffet style.
have seen alot of well known Peter Katholos sometimes went he was player as a Olympic Fan I had an Auto graph.
Things wer'nt going well at the club it was going down hill alot of aguments personal Attacks In the bar the kitchen money loosing even today that members at thSporting club "Where the money went"
Someone did not like this person at the club chef and reporting to the Greek News paper that I have been Food poison(Bullshit) just to sabbotaging I have seen my own eyes Sherrif repossing the cash register lucky someone saved and paid it before they knocked off.
A borad member form The social club going behind the bar pouring whisky in his glass because he is a director behind the bar.
The clubs were loosing money no customers very quiet Since Simon Constanidis were no longer The President of Sydney Olympic Fc or the Sporting Club.
The only way was to Sub lease it The Sydney Olympic Supporting Club decided to handed the Owner of Belleview river side it was again renovated it turned to ba reception lounge what ever they made it was going to Sydney Olympic Supporting Social Club he had 2 or 3 years he took his money and left for good.
On a Monday night 2005 the council had shut the doors for good at 64 Tennent Parade Hurlstone PARK.
It is a pity we do'nt have a social Club somwhere to solise to have a drink and talk about OLYMPIC and football Young and Old it dose'nt matter who you are becomming a member and supporting Sydney Olympic orgainising events as they use to do and sporting events.
But Unfortunatly that Vision that Simon Constandinidis and few fans like myself the dream had ended.
