Stuart Munro has signed on again as senior coach of Dandenong Thunder for the 2011 Alanic Victorian Premier League season.
Dandenong Thunder CEO, Burim Sulemani, was delighted to announce Munro's reappointment.
"Securing the services of one of the best coaches in the country is very pleasing, we know what he brings to the club with his wealth of experience, professionalism, knowledge and tutelage of the game; so for us we look forward to having Stuart coaching the club for a third year," Sulemani said.
Munro has coached the club since 2009, and after a disapoointing season this year, he hopes to turn the club's fortunes around in 2011.
"I've been here for two years and wanted to continue that, we've had a couple of mixed years with the success in the first year and the disappointment of missing out on finals in 2010. I wanted to continue on and be loyal to the club who showed a lot of support and stood by me during the tough times early this year," Munro said.
After a very successful first season as coach in 2009 where the club won the Minor Premiership, Munro took out the Victorian Premier League's Coach of the Year award.
The club struggled in the first half of the 2010 season, with Munro attributing the lack of personnel as a key factor.
"This year early on we had players not coming because of their clubs not releasing them and that's why we have to make sure this year we don't face that same problem. We saw in the second half of the year, when we got the four boys in what a difference it made to the team, so we will make sure we have the players ready and have our best team out for round one of the season."
Munro said the club will take on a new direction next season.
"We're looking at that 21-22 age bracket, in adding some quality young players to the club as well as bringing in some experienced players.
"At this stage, it's looking promising...we expect to have a very good side out on the park next year."
