Mate, youre a fucking idiot. Answer this simple question: Do Olympic (or any other club) sign their players on contracts that are for more than one season in length? Why do you think that before the start of every NSWPL season you see them announce that Olympic/United/Marconi have "re-signed" the majority of last year's squad? Read pages 27-28: www.footballaustralia.com.au/site/_content/document/00000360-source.pdfThere's a clear distinction made between the "training compensation" and "transfer fees". Nowhere does it say "clubs cannot demand transfer fees for contracted players". |

Nah. Just for 30 weeks or whatever the standard is Missed your post mini. That's exactly my point, our clubs dont get transfer fees because theyre rarely contracted when an Gay Leagueclub comes in for them |

I stand corrected. What is the compensation actually paied to the clubs for the move from NSWPL to A-league? Depends on the player and how long he has been there. I'll use Shannon Cole as an example. I doubt Olympic would have gotten much for him as he only spent a season there. The 3k development fee would have been split up between Olympic, APIA and the others probably. If one of your players spent most of his youth career at Olympic then they'd get the 3k. How long was Ramsay at Olympic for? You can only get a transfer fee if the player is under contract. Like I said before, most NSWPL players are only contracted for the length of the season. So Gay Leagueclubs will sign them up on a free once their contract expires. With some of the younger players, NSWPL clubs are probably more than happy to release them early if they get an Gay Leaguegig... nobody wants to be known as the side who doesnt let youth players "follow their dreams" and all that bullshit. Dont get me wrong, it's a fucking shit situation. I hate it as much as anyone... I just dont think it's as simple as "the FFA is to blame". It's just how football is for us at the moment. Nobody can afford to sign players up on full 1/2/3 year contracts... and, even if they do, it would take balls to stop a player from going to an Gay Leagueclub and demanding a transfer fee. I know United got about 70k from the Jedinak transfer to Turkey but that was only because we let him go to the Mariners for free and organise a future transfer clause (as far as I'm aware). |

I dont care if they're "pro" contracts or not. The point is that theyre only for the length of the season. i.e. pre-season to GF. Basically, the moment the full time whistle goes in the final they're free agents again. |
