Sydney Olympic FC mainstay and midfield machine Anthony Doumanis affirmed that this season's first team squad has the depth and quality to follow through on its impressive start and finish with the prized silverware.
Speaking with the Olympic Ultras, fan favourite 'Dou-Dou-Doumanis' talked about his recovery from a number of injuries and made sure that his presence added depth to the Olympic team that has walked the walk under coaches Tsekenis and Papoythis already this season.
"My body feels good and I've had a few games with the 20's to get my fitness back," mentioned a positive Doumanis, adding that "training with the team has been great.
"The team has a fantastic bunch of boys and the coaches have been awesome too."
And, while accepting that his long time on the sidelines combined with the team's obvious strengths in its current format will make it difficult for him to break into the team, Anthony made no doubts that he was hungry as ever to contribute to Olympic's winning ways in 2011.
"As long as the team keeps winning it will obviously be hard to get into the starting lineup," he said, "but I have no doubt once I'm fully fit and firing there will be a spot for me available."
On the depth of the team he added, "given the team we do have this year, with the depth in mind I have no doubt we will be consistant.
"'Tseka' and 'Flea' will keep the team grounded, and this is vital as now we're first we don't want to be getting ahead of ourselves."
When asked about what could be done to attract even more fans back to watch this new and refreshing brand of football that Olympic are playing under 'Tseka', Doumanis reflected on his own love for the club when he was a junior.
"I remember growing up as a kid I couldn't wait til the weekend to watch Olympic," stated the midfield maestro.
"We need to make sure our kids feel the same way about our club."
Doumanis also took note of a number of initiatives that the Club have taken into revitalising the Olympic brand.
"The club has been at a number of community events, we've been to the aged care homes, going out to the schools and promoting the team would be great as well."
The Olympic Ultras wish Anthony an injury-free second half of the season and that he features prominently in Olympic's hunt for success.
