Olympic has a Greek - Australian fanbase, how would you feel if the club started promoting itself to the massive korean football mad people who live in the strathfield - campsie area?

Good idea, but first, theres a problem though that needs addressing. Olympic has a fanbase comprising of 1. families and friends of the players and 2. old diehards who have one foot in the grave. They have failed to roll over their support to the new generation. As ultras you guys have the most important job of all, not the board. If I can give you a hint of advice, stop all the greek chanting. As a group you'll die a certain death if you think pro-Greek kids are going to turn up. 2nd and 3rd Gen Greek - Australians are more mainstream focused and don't want to marginalise themselves. The whole pro-greek attitude was for the 1980's, when migrants and their 1st Gen kids found solace in hanging around other Greeks. The 2nd and 3rd Gen kids of today and got Aussie, Asian, Arab, slav friends (even girlfriends) and have moved on and don't want to look as through they are mono-cultural. Thats why they support SFC or St George Rugby League etc etc. They can go with all their friends, of all backgrounds, together. If you want big numbers, you guys have to stop the Greek focus and embrace others from all backgrounds under the banner of football, not Greek Australian football. Its your job as ultras. Your question is: How do you change the perception of Olympic and get numbers to the games? Avoid this question and you will surely die. Ask yourselves: Can you change? |

UNFAIR! its not our problem its the CLUB - Olmpic's problem.
We are active fans who love the club and do more for this club than anyone one else not our problem at all.
The Greek chanting part i agree with but.

UNFAIR! its not our problem its the CLUB - Olmpic's problem. We are active fans who love the club and do more for this club than anyone one else not our problem at all. On game day, you are the club. The board is too busy paying the bills. Leave it up to them and the club will die. |

the topic is how well you all feel if the club joined forces with some leaders of the korean-australian community and inturn we had koreans coming to the games

Freaken raises solid points and we can see it even now within our existing group. More people chant in English than they do in Greek, it's disappointing but it's the truth. We need to find a way to attract more young fans to the games but we aren't being helped by being in second division.

I thought Biliris supported Olympic his whole life? We saw him for 5 minutes and then he fucked off. When someone asks you if you support Olympic, saying yes doesn't mean you do. The least a supporter can do is attend games. He gave us 5 minutes. |

Bottom line is Olympic has the most UNDER 16S coming through the turn styles than any other club in the NSWPL and that is not from our youth teams
so it must of done something
good to see BWE following suit.

I don't think you understand my points. I'm quite happy to provide some guidance for you guys because I've been and seen it all before at Olympic, as many others have. I've been on the same road you're currently traveling on, over 10 years ago, from supporter, to "ultra" to committee to board. This whole asian thing, has been done before. But it was done poorly. Koreans are proud people. They're not going to just "turn up" to games, especially if they go once and hear you chant in Greek. That'll be the last time you see them. That goes for every single Asian nationality. I'm going to give you the key to all problems, one that took decades to work out...for free. Your mission Paoktzi, if you choose to accept it, is to find a way to get the girls to games....not football supporters, not wannabe hardcore wogs, Koreans, Lebs etc etc etc...... Girls.Its a very hard task...but a righteous one. |
