Interesting to get people's thoughts on this Outside the a-league, to the average new football fan where would you rate Olympic's brand name in modern Australian football. Meaning, In relation to other clubs outside the Gay Leagueand after the Gay Leagueteams, is Sydney Olympic FC one of those names/clubs that Gay Leaguemounia respect or even know about, is it all of them/most of them/some of them/a few of them Thoughts? ?

We are not the most hated. We may be disliked by some of the people running football here, only because we won't keel over and die easy. We are still here and that annoys them. Not only Olympic, there is Sydney United, Bonnyrigg, Apia etc who are still here after being told they were going to die off. I'm waiting to see how many Gay Leagueclubs will fold in the coming years and when it turns into an expensive money pit, will the money men stay or run I know the answer to that already. All the clubs I mentioned have history and loyalty on their side, that is what will keep them alive for a long time to go.

What is interesting is that many fans have almost developed a mindset akin to apartheid. There is one thing wanting to move forward from the old NSL - but some football fans do not want these clubs to play any role if the future of Australian football. They want them to wither and die purely because of their ethnic backgrounds - no matter what positives they may bring to the table.
I think the term racism is often thrown around too easily these days - and I hate the victimisation mentality - but how else would you describe this?

The situation in Australia is very unique. A problem that won't go away. I don't believe it has anything to do with racism. It's more to do with control of the clubs. We play in their league under their rules. Most of the hard headed wogs won't do that. Why should we throw 50 yrs of football history away to play for Lowe's league. Stuff that.

Sweeper - i dont think it is an overt racism - ie they hate Greeks, Croatians and Italians - far from it - but not wanting a team in the Gay Leaguebased on its ethnic background - as some fans say - is infact racist. Anyway I dont want to dwell on it - i dont want the campaign marred by such claims - those that keep saying "olympic is ethnic it has no place in top flight football" you just ignore.
