WOMENS FIRTS GRADE TO WIN THE SUPERLEAGUE YAMOTO TO SOI SAS
Northern Tigers v Sydney Olympic Women Trial Games Results
posted by on February 28, 2011
Sydney Olympic women teams had trial games this weekend against Northern Tigers a team that is also competing in the Football NSW Super League and we will get to play against in the 5th round of the competition. There were mixed results for our teams but the 1st grade and Under 16s results were very positive and put a smile on the Sydney Olympic officials.
Reports on the games can be found below:
Under 12s girls
Half time: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 2
Fulltime: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 4
The score line definitely doesn't indicate the effort and improvement the team displayed this week. We were a lot better in many areas including our passing game and defensive structure, with Marielle Bessiris and Zeinab Hijazi particularly strong at the back. Hannah Hijazi and Sotiria Psakis controlled the play well in the midfield and often released our speed star Demi Karahlis who was unlucky not to score a couple of times.
We did concede 4 goals but many all through lapses in concentration and these are areas we will continue to develop.
Under 14s girls
Half time: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 2
Full time: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 2
The Under 14's again started slowly, allowing the Tigers to gain an early advantage. When the girls move the ball quickly, releasing players into space we are a great team to watch. Emily Mallos and Sienna Pigna looked dangerous when given space out wide with Emily unlucky with a shot over the bar and Sienna whipping in some great crosses.
It was positive to see the girls respond well to what they learnt at training and the team will continue to develop into a very good football team.
Under 16s girls
Half time: Sydney Olympic 3 Northern Tigers 0
Full time: Sydney Olympic 4 Northern Tigers 2
A good team performance against side that would be considered the benchmark for this grade.
It was pleasing to see that the girls are putting into practice the technical aspects of their training. Again a highly spirited effort especially in the second half.
Well done girls, keep up the hard work!
Reserve Grade Women
Half time: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 0
Full time: Sydney Olympic 0 Northern Tigers 1
Both teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half. It was a fairly warm day which seemed to get the better of our girls into the second half loosing form and concentration.
Tigers didn't get to score until well into the second half, although they did have 3 times more shots at goal than we did. Great effort from our Keeper Joy Sue-Try, Sarah Dalamagas made several good runs towards goal - need to work on support in this area.
Brooke Biar hit the crossbar (AGAIN) in her attempt at scoring a goal over the keepers head. The Coach feels this game was a bit of the average side as the girls are capable of more.
1st Grade Women
Half time: Sydney Olympic 4 Northern Tigers 0
Full time: Sydney Olympic 5 Northern Tigers 1
1ST grade had a good win on the Sunday afternoon at a great venue with some fine football being displayed against Northern Tigers . Goals came from Olimpia Avramidis(3) and Kate Halaska(2). Girls played well and in good spirit also.
Still more work to be done!!!
