"Olympic product Shannon Cole" - is that the same Shannon Cole who spent one season at Olympic before signing for FC? The same Shannon Cole who played for about 10 clubs before Olympic?

Olympic product... LOL
who gave him the platform to go to a higher league champ
What has that got to do with who produced him and whether he was on fire or not?
Fact is that he is just as much an APIA product as he is an Olympic one. At the end of the day, he played his junior football elsewhere. To claim him as your product after he spent one season with you is laughable to say the least

which was the last club that showcased him to get him a gig?
did APIA no did OLYMPIC YES
end of story dont be cut boys were not talking about ur club
I would have to say that to claim a player as an Olympic product they'd have to have spent the majority of their footballing development at Olympic.
Shannon Cole was once an Olympic player, but I don't think I see him as a product.
End of the day though, the point of this thread is to show that even ex-nswpl players don't really feel that it is that much of a step up to the A-league, which is something which is being further proven every time that HAKOA plays a state league club and fails to win convincingly.
But just because you play junior football elsewhere doesn't mean they produced you or we did or anything
He played for us, our staff believed in him and supported him, our fans supported him, he played top football and he supports the club and is grateful, IMO that makes him one of us

Again, playing for Olympic for one season doesn't make him a product of the Sydney Olympic development system.
I'm not saying the kid isn't one of us. Olympic and it's fans should always pay respect to every player who has ever worn our jersey but respect is one thing and development is another.

No? Really?
So players just turn up one day and theyre awesome?
There's a reason that the majority of this country's greatest players came from the same clubs - some are better at developing players than others. Obviously there are many factors that go into "producing" a player and it's not as simple as "Club x produced him".
All I'm saying is that it's an absolute joke to call him an Olympic product when he spent one season at Olympic when he was already well established in the NSWPL. He made a name for himself at APIA the year before where he scored some great free kicks. He just carried that form over to Olympic and finally got picked up by FC.
