No1 is ashamed to be greek, but you have to understand the greeks in Sydney are fical and only support Olympic when they are going well .. now you might say we are going well! we are first in the NSWPL! .. yeah but we aint in the a-league, so why should they bother paying 15 dollars and "wasting" a sunday afternoon to watch semi-pro players? Thats the mentality we have to eliminate in the greek community, its a very simple problem but with a very hard solution.  |

Its our problem. Their problems are ours and ours are theirs, we are the same Olympic family. Relates to the attitude you just brought up, how we have to eliminate that backdated way of thinking. Not easy, but imo its central to keeping our team alive in the long run Besides, the board aren't much more than ordinary fans they are just people too |

Here is your answer to your question about poor crowds.
The new generation of kids and teenagers aren't as interested as the previous generation who went to the games in numbers not only to watch the football, but to socialize with fellow Greeks and enjoy the afternoon.
I can say ,with confidence, that it is the same for ALL the ethnic clubs.
Not to mention that there are so many other clubs through out Sydney and only a limited number of football followers.

dw this was what a greek told me basically he said they changed home grounds, in early 2000 and then everybody stopped going this is what my mate told me Your mate is clueless. |

The board are furious with the crowds atm. They do not understand how the club is averaging 1,000 ppl to games when we have the Tsekenis as coach, 25 year lease on the best ground in sydney that is used for football, the club is 1st on table. They are losing big big dollars and the Olympic fans are not coming out. Thoughts people Did they really think that people will turn out because they're coming first? The board can't be that naive, surely. By the way, this is my favourite topic. |

freaken, I agree with your point, just because we are having a good season. The board isn't happy with the crowds. Neither am I, but what else can anyone do. We are no longer in the top league and people aren't as interested as they once were. Only the diehards are hanging in there.
