Alex Smith Returns to Belmore
posted by on September 2, 2011
Instrumental attacking midfielder and playmaker Alex Smith will return to Belmore Sports Ground in this weekend’s ‘must win’ clash against APIA Leichhardt Tigers on Sunday 4th September 2011. Alex Smith was instrumental for Sydney Olympic FC in the first Round of away game fixtures, scoring 8 goals for the ‘Blues’.
In Olympic’ previous meeting with APIA at Lambert Park in Round 6 of the competition, Olympic defeated the Tigers 1-4 with Alex Smith issuing a stellar performance that bought Olympic’ travelling supporter base to the edge of their seats. Alex Smith was influential in Olympic’ attack providing the assist for Mileski who unleashed a brilliant strike to provide the ‘Blues’ with an early lead. Alex Smith continued to trouble APIA’s defence and soon extended Olympic’ lead to 0-2 before the half time break. Captain, Phil Makrys extended the score line to 1-3 in the 2nd half with a great individual effort, before Alex Smith brought Olympic’ supporters to their feet scoring his 2nd goal of the match from an impossible acute angle.
Alex Smith is undoubtedly a skillful talent and a welcome addition to this weekend’s squad. His presence will bring much confidence to the squad in what will be an action filled and packed contest.
“I am looking forward to coming back, to wrap up the Minor Premiership on Sunday. The boys have welcomed me back with open arms and I am happy to help the side where I made my name in Australia” Alex Smith stated earlier today.
Furthermore, Alex Smith urges all Sydney Olympic FC supporters to come out and support our Mighty ‘Blues’ this Sunday.
COME ON OLYMPIC!!!!!
